Takasago shines at the Paris College of Art
This school of fashion and design founded in 1981 as the French branch of the American School "Parsons" is now independent and welcomes foreign students of art and design. Takasago decided to continue growing its collaboration with the fashion industry and the arts thanks to this unique partnership.
To make it a real asset, TEPL developed the following deep perfume course for students.
1) Students visited Takasago and received an overview of how a fragrance house does work, the history of perfumery, the world of fragrance, how to write a brief, what stimuli inspire a perfumer, and of course an olfactive training.
2) Students presented us with their end of the year fashion collections, and we helped them to translate their design ideas into perfume ideas, creating the perfect multi-sensorial story telling that could embodies the ideal perfume brief
3) Then a jury composed by Jean Jacques, fashion editors and me, elected the best fragrance brief. Alexander Asvarischtsch won among the 7 students.
4) Jean Jacques created his fragrance which illustrated the theme of his fashion collection. This perfume was called "Nouveau" as a reference to Art Nouveau. It's a reinterpretation of a moist and mineral vetiver, a modern classic that personified the idea of art nouveau architecture (mineral nature invading building) but recalled also a forest at dawn.
The fragrance was released at the end of the year Paris College of Art fashion showon May 6, 2014. Not only a partnership but a real perfume immersion. The students have been able to feel and experience the magic of our universe.
At Takasago we are proud to be experts in "smelling beautiful," and it was logical for us to associate ourselves with the Paris College of Art that helps the world to look more beautiful.
Beyond PR and the continuum around the world of art we're building (Versailles, Opera Comique, Beaux Arts, WGSN global fashion awards, Met Opera, and more to come), this partnership will allow us to be inspired by these various global horizons and designers who will create tomorrow's fashion.
