In 1939, the Hidaka plant of Takasago Perfumery Company Limited (the predecessor of Takasago International Corporation) was established to produce orange oil and citric acid, and after the business was transformed from a perfumery to a concentrated juice producer in 1952, Nankaikako was started.

In over 60 years since, Nankaikako has been enjoying mild weather and the rich high-quality water of Hidaka River; sourced from Mt. Gomadanzan, the highest peak in Wakayama prefecture. At the same time, backed by nationally known Citrus unshiu and Japanese plum production centers, Nankaikako has an optimal location for juice production.

Capitalizing on the location and utilizing in-house fruit processing technology, we apply the strength of full-scale production, from juice production to bottling, aiming to contribute to society by providing good taste and health.

Food Safety Management System

The juice we supply is produced at JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standards)-certified plants and complies with JAS standards. We also obtained an FSSC22000 certificate in 2012 and are striving to provide secure and safe products. We are the only company in the Takasago Group which produces and sells final food products (canned beverages).

Safety Promotion

We are engaged in company-wide efforts to promote the safety of plants through 5S / Kaizen and safety and health committee activities.

Reduction of Environmental Impact

We obtained the ISO14001 certificate in November 2014.

Annual discharged amount of industrial waste is 2,000 tons, and the allocations of Animal and Plant Residual and Plastics are 1,950 tons and 50 tons, respectively. 62% of the total Animal and Plant Residual is 1,200 tons of the pericarp discharged in squeezing citruses. Discharged citrus pericarps are transported to the cattle farm in Mie Prefecture and a whole amount are recycled to cattle feed. 660 tons of citrus pulp and dehydrated sludge are reduced to a fertilizer or the biosolid fuel. 140 tons of plum seeds are incinerated and then landfilled, because it is difficult to be made into fertilizer.

Steel and stainless are collected as valuables. 30 tons of sorted plastic bags and pail cans are collected as valuables and recycled into regenerated fiber. 20 tons of plastics are sorted, melted and made into solid fuel by the contractor. We will continue to promote the waste management by recycling to reduce environmental burden.
