Donation of IT equipments to Madagascar SAVA University
Takasago International Corporation shows its long term commitment to the development of Madagascar and this time has contributed to a project consisting in establishing a University in the SAVA area in the north-east region, the world capital of vanilla. Takasago’s donation action of IT equipments to the SAVA University, center opened in September 2012 for the service of hundred students and so-called Centre Universitaire Régional de la SAVA or “CURSA”, was celebrated in Antalaha city on 1st February 2013 and was honored by the presence of Madagascar Prime Minister his Excellency Omer Beriziki.
The Head of government did not fail to thank the generous donors, encouraging maintaining relations of cooperation, which he hopes to be strengthened through further public-private partnerships. In turn, he encouraged the students to work harder and also appealed to state authorities and community leaders to work together to develop the region while emphasizing that efforts will be needed to gradually get rid of foreign aid and achieve a degree of autonomy.
Madagascar is a developing country which disposes of an enormous potential in biodiversity and exceptional human resources and culture. Particularly, SAVA area provides an appropriate habitat not only for the well-known vanilla but also for a rich flora and fauna including various endemic species.
Besides these potentialities, local Malagasy population is victim of different types of poverties closely linked to a bad management of the resources available. This irrational exploitation is mainly leaded by the lack of scientific knowledge that could be directly used for the service of Human and Society.
In order to face this situation, the SAVA University project, was created with the goal to revalue the local biodiversity and its potentials, contributing to society by improving local citizens quality-of-life.
Our donation action enters in this program aiming at rehabilitating the local education system and agronomy research infrastructures with three points of focus: reenergizing the ecotourism and agriculture, and in a long-term to be recognized at a global level by the academic society as a Natural pole for scientific research.
Again, we sincerely thank the SAVA population and actors for their warm welcome.
