Takasago International Corporation is pleased to announce the publication of a research paper in the academic journal Scientific Reports (Springer Nature), co-authored with Associate Professor Kensuke Okada of the Graduate School of Education, the University of Tokyo. The paper, titled “Development of a self-report scale to assess relaxation effects of flavors and fragrances,” details the development of a new psychological scale for measuring the relaxation effects of flavors and fragrances.

In modern society, there is an increasing demand for the relaxation effects of flavors and fragrances. However, until now, there has been no established psychological scale to directly measure these effects. This research analyzed responses from individuals who experienced various odors, resulting in the development of a new psychological scale with high reliability and validity. By utilizing this scale, we aim to verify the relaxation effects of various odors and contribute to the realization of a well-being society.
