Development of Ru-MACHO Complexes, Efficient Homogeneous Ruthenium Catalysts for Hydrogenation, and its Application

The Ru-MACHO Series catalysts were developed for the hydrogenation of esters. This method enables a safe and environmentally friendly process by avoiding hazardous procedure and waste. Over 1,000 kg of alcohols were produced by this method. In addition to ester hydrogenation, the Ru-MACHO Series can catalyze a wide variety of reactions such as the hydrogenation of sugars or N-monomethylation of aromatic amines.
