Takasago Symposium 2006, "Odor Science Behavior" was held on November 21 in Yokohama, attended by about 120 people.

Lectures were presented by four invited specialists known for their eminent research: Dr. Gary K. Beauchamp, Director of the Monell Chemical Senses Center; Dr. Graeme Lowe, Associate Member of the Monell Chemical Senses Center; Dr. Yoshikazu Ueno, Assistant Professor, Center for Human Evolution Modeling Research, Primate Research Institute, Kyoto University; and Dr. Takamichi Nakamoto, Assistant Professor, Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology.

The presentation from Takasago was entitled, "Odor Control" Given by Dr. Jonathan Warr of Takasago Europe Perfumery Laboratory S.A.R.L., the lecture presented the scientific approach behind two strategies of controlling malodour -- Removal of malodour molecules by chemical or physical means; and Prevention of biological malodour generation.

At the poster display corner adjacent to the venue, as "Asian Fragrance Company," we offered many samples that drew the interest of participants: the fine fragrance Eau d'AsieR, the cooling agent COOLACTR, the heating agent HOTACTR, the moisturizing agent Liquid Crysta CeramideR2, and DEOATAKR, which has an odor-eliminating effect on the difficult, disagreeable odor component, methyl mercaptan.

The objective of the annual symposium is to present the latest research findings to assist with customers' research and development. The symposium was first held in 2000 to mark the 80th anniversary of Takasago's founding, and over the years has addressed flavor, fragrance, and fine chemical.
