Establishment of Takasago Shanghai
Tokyo, Japan - Takasago International Corp. announces the establishment of Takasago International (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. This is the latest installment to Takasago's expansion plans in China. The wholly owned subsidiary of Takasago will be responsible for the following activities:
1. Import and sell Takasago products from Japan, US and Europe to customers in China
2. Import and sell raw materials and products from other suppliers to customers in China
3. Export of Chinese raw materials and products to the Takasago group to reduce costs
With the establishment of this company, Takasago now has five companies in China. Shanghai-Takasago Union is a joint-venture company situated in Shanghai that has flavor and fragrance manufacturing capabilities, which caters to Takasago's Chinese, Japanese and multinational customers. Hua Li is a joint-venture situated in Xiamen and produces oolong tea extracts. Another joint-venture located in Xiamen is Hua Ming, which manufactures green tea powder. In Guangzhou, Takasago International (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary was recently established for the production of powdered flavor and related products. Takasago International (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., will be utilized as a trading company to support the operations of the other Takasago companies in China. The sales target of the trading company has been set for US$5 million and is expected to grow to US$10 million by 2010.
President Hiroki Take stated that, "The establishment of Takasago International (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. is part of our continuing efforts to strengthen our businesses in China in order to further solidify our presence in the Asia-Pacific region. This will facilitate a more efficient route of delivering goods to Takasago's customers in China. It will also serve as the supply hub for the Takasago production centers for their Chinese raw material requirements, which will significantly contribute to the company's cost reduction program."
