Paul Poiret was the first couturier to launch his own perfumery. He revolutionized 20th century perfumery by associating couture with perfume. The Arlequinade perfume bottle was inspired by a series of Picasso’s paintings which feature Arlequinade. The black triangular stopper suggests the harlequin’s hat, the gold and transparent triangular motifs on the body his costume.
